A walking tour along a section of coastline south of Albania overlooking the Ionian Sea and Corfu island on one side and Butrint lake on the other. A trail once heavily monitored by military forces during communism when they built massive coastal defense structures for fear of invasion from the sea. Enjoy refreshments at a local café or tavern offering stunning panoramic views over this picturesque landscape. Continue your hike toward one of southern Albania's ancient religious sites; The Saint George Orthodox Church which dates all the way back to between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. This beautifully maintained church sits atop a hill providing some of the best vantage points around these parts. Return journey through Saranda brings our adventure full circle.
