Lemosho Route 7 Days (6 nights on the mountain, 2 nights in hotel) Route Overview The Lemosho route is one of the best routes for acclimatization. It’s a lesser-used trail with stunning views leading up to the Shira Plateau. This is one of the few trails where groups can be accompanied on the first day by an armed ranger because the forests surrounding the Lemosho glades are home to buffaloes, elephants, and other wildlife. While the minimum trekking period for this route is six days, we highly suggest taking seven days. This extra day allows your body ample time to adjust to the elevation changes, minimizing symptoms of altitude sickness while also providing sufficient rest prior to reaching Uhuru Peak. **Trip summary:** Seven days on the mountain; two nights at a hotel in Moshi Itinerary highlights: Moshi → Mti Mkubwa camp → Shira 2 camp → Barranco camp → Karanga camp → Barafu camp → Mweka camp → Moshi • Day 1 — Travel from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi • Day 2 — Trek from Moshi to Lemosho gate then set up basecamp at Mti Mkubwa • Day 3 — Hike from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 camp • Day 4— Move from Shira 2 to Barranco camp • Day 5— Continue trek from Barranco to Karanga camp • Day 6— Journey from Karanga to Barafu camp • Day 7— Climb from Barafu to Uhuru peak then descend to Mweka camp • Day 8— Walk down from Mweka camp back to Machame village or Marangu town via Himo road ending in Moshi • Day 9— Departureday– Return flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport *Package includes everything!*

Rongai is the only northern route up Kilimanjaro. It will take you past the second-highest point in Tanzania – Mawenzi while offering bird’s-eye views of the mountain’s rain forest. The gentle gradient and its gradual acclimatization bring one safely to the highest point of Africa – Kilimanjaro’s Uhuru peak, at 5,895 m. Rongai Route boasts high success rates of 84 and 94 percent on 7-day climbs, respectively. Rongai is great for travelers with previous exposure to high altitude and offers an escape from fellow-climbers, as it requires the longest drive before reaching the park gate. Rongai Route will leave you with great impressions while testing your strength over the distance of 65 km (40 miles).

The Northern Circuit is the newest and longest route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It begins in the West at the Londorossi Gate and follows the same path as the Lemosho route for the first two days. After crossing the Shira plateau the path veers north near Lava Tower, following the longer Northern Circuit instead of the more popular Southern Circuit via Barranco Valley The route circles around the quieter northern slopes to the east side of the mountain. The Northern Circuit is longer than the other trails on Kilimanjaro, taking a minimum of eight or nine days to complete. The eight day trek skips the additional acclimatization day that is usually spent at Shira Camp 2 and continues straight on to Moir Camp.

The Lemosho route located from the west that begins with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. Sometime the route is dusty due to many vehicles. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the lush rainforest to Shira Plateau. We recommend a minimum of 7 days to attempt this route but 8 days is preferable for better acclimatization and summit success. The Lemosho route joins the Machame route after Shira 2 Camp and then follows the same route through the southern circuit and descending at Mweka Gate.
