Our private experience begins at Piazzale Roma, Venice's historic gateway, where the modern world fades into the timeless city. From here, we stroll through the quiet backstreets of San Polo, away from the crowds, until we reach the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, known simply as the Frari. Rising in solemn brick grandeur, this vast Gothic church was founded by the Franciscan friars in the 13th century and completed in the 15th. The largest church in Venice, the Frari holds exceptional spiritual and artistic importance. Its austere exterior conceals a soaring, light-filled interior that houses some of the city's greatest masterpieces. Inside, we encounter Titian's monumental Assumption of the Virgin (1516–1518), a revolutionary work whose scale, color, and emotional power transformed Venetian painting. Nearby stands the dynamic Pesaro Madonna, which redefined sacred composition through bold perspective. We also admire Giovanni Bellini's luminous Pesaro Triptych.
