Antisana Ecological reserve is located about 100km away from Quito hidden in the mystical Andes Mountains. One of the best ways to explore the vastness of this reserve is by bicycle. The reserve was created in July 1993, covers an area of 120,000 hectares and has a range of altitude of 1200 meters in the upper Amazon and goes all the way up to 5758 meters above sea level to the Peak of Antisana Volcano. Antisana means Dark Mountain in Quichua and you can certainly see why with the volcano often covered in clouds, but if you are lucky enough to see the glacia capped peak it makes the perfect photo oportunity. Wild horses, dear, specticle bears and Alpacas are just some of the animals that call the reserve their home not to mention the Condors, Cara caras and many other birds. 07:30 Meet at CarpeDM Office, Begin drive to the Antisana Ecological reserve 09:00 Condor Searching 09:30 The guide will give explanation of the area, volcanoes, vegetation, animals etc. 10:00 Hike up to the Mica Lagoon viewing point 11:00 start the beautiful bike ride 12:30 Stop for Lunch 13:30 Head back to Quito 16:30 Arrive to Quito
The Otavalo Market day tour is a beautiful way to discover and combine the famous artesian indigenous market in Ecuador and some of the fantastic views outside Otavalo. The indigenous town of Otavalo is famous across South America for its colorful market, diverse handicrafts, and indigenous groups. 7:30 am Depart Quito from Carpedm Officce 8:45 am Visit San Pablo Lake 9:15 am Plazas de Ponchos of Otavalo approx. 2hrs. 11:45 am Cotocachi Leather Market with a stop for lunch at typical Ecuadorian Restaurant 1.30 pm Waterfalls of Peguche or Cuicocha lake (only one visit dependant on numbers) 3:15 pm return to Quito 5:30 pm back in Quito.
Mindo is a small town set amidst a landscape of lush green mountains, crystalline rivers & waterfalls, and pristine nature. It is widely recognized as a center for both nature immersion and adventure activities. To the northwest of Quito and is one of the attractions close to the Capital of Ecuador, passing by the famous monument to the Middle of the World we have Mindo with its warm and humid climate for being on the border between two regions: The Andes and the Ecuadorian coast. Departure at 7.30am from Carpedm’s office we will have breakfast and then set off towards Mindo. The drive takes about two and a half hours. On the way we can stop outside the equator line monument site for anyone who wants to take a quick picture and then carry along the beautiful Mountain roads where you will notice the change in scenery as you go down in altitude. Our first stop is the Zip lines or Canopy as they call it here as you are literally above the canopy. There are 10 lines in total and if you are feeling brave you could even try the superman or Butterfly. After about an hour of adrenalin fueled fun you will head towards the Tarabita which is a cable car that takes you to the start of your waterfall walk. As you walk through the cloud forest you could see a variety of different birds and butterflies. if you bring a swim suit you could take a swim in the crystal clear water. Once you have dried off a little we will head for lunch. After lunch optional activities are either: Visit to chocolate factory (not included in price). OR Visit to butterfly Farm / Hummingbirds (not included in price) After a fun filled day you will head back to Quito arriving to our office at around 7pm or 8 pm
