Usually the hike around the cordillera Huayhuash starts at Cuartelhuain, south of Huaraz. This lesser-known route offers some of the most stunning scenery on foot anywhere; winding past dramatic peaks like Yerupaja 6,634m., Peru's second highest peak after Huascaran, Jirisanca, Siula Grande famously featured in 'Touching the Void', Rondoy, Ninashanca and Rasac.
