Rubén Rodríguez

Hello everyone! We are all official tour guides. Most of us have degrees in tourism and another in history. In my case, I started in 2019, but in 2021 I began leading tours on my own and giving them a try. I consider myself someone who gets along well with people and loves sharing ideas with travellers; after all, they can offer new perspectives even if you haven't travelled beyond Madrid. Having explored parts of Europe has also made me appreciate this profession more, given that everywhere you go there’s always some interesting tale worth telling – which makes Madrid an excellent place to lead any kind of guided visit. This vibrant metropolis welcomes visitors just like locals, so personally speaking, it ranks among both the top destinations within Spain and globally. While I do possess prior experience working as a local guide, what truly drives me about this career path is how much I enjoy teaching others and explaining various historical facts - making it feel like the most suitable role imaginable. For these reasons, getting to live out my dream by guiding tourists through my hometown gives me great satisfaction and represents quite the honour.

Madrid old essence

This tour reveals some secrets about the city’s origins at various points along a route through the old heart of Madrid, or “Magerit.” This 1200 year old city started out as a tiny arab fort and grew into one of the worlds biggest metro areas, home to around three million people. So how did that happen? Find out with Ruben. Not many other towns can boast quite the same rich tapestry of stories as ‘Magerit’. While this walking tour concentrates mainly on Hapsburg times there will also be glimpses back further still when madrid was just a little town plus sights dating right up until today including landmarks like The royal palace which dates back to bourbon rule. There were lots of interesting folk who walked these streets over time - both famous faces and not so familiar ones! And we shall discuss them too – Kings , Food , Customs Legends…all told with our own brand of humour . You really do learn something new by the end of your walk though ! Ready for an adventure ? Some highlights include : Puerta Del sol ; Oldest Inn; Plaza mayor ; Arco De cuchilleros (oldest eatery); plaza dela villa( oldest shop) Almudena cathedral & then finally….The grand Palacio Real itself!!
