Grand Teton Dawn/Dusk Wildlife Safari - Winter

Don’t leave with a photo of a brown speck: Get to know Grand Teton’s wildlife even if you only have half a day. Our four-hour dawn to dusk excursions offer a chance to see the formidable Teton mountains bathed in morning glow or casting their shadow across the valley floor. Winter is a special time in the Tetons. Let our experienced local guides show you the best of Grand Teton National Park and the National Elk Refuge—from the famous mountain views to the hidden spots where the wildlife hangs out that only true locals know about. Typically, we head out on the Gros Ventre Road toward Kelly Warm Springs before looping back, rejoining the main highway and heading north toward Moran and the Oxbow Bend. We return to Jackson, with a detour to Taggart Lake and a drive along the National Elk Refuge, where we hope to spot elk and bighorn sheep. Winter road closures restrict access to areas such as Mormon Row, Jenny Lake, or Schwabacher Landing. The tour is flexible based on your preferences. Winter season runs from November 1 – April 30.

Highlights of Yellowstone

Overwhelmed by the options? See the best of Yellowstone in one day and you don’t have to drive. Experience the highlights of Yellowstone: wildlife in the Hayden Valley, waterfalls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and thermal features like the Grand Prismatic Spring and Old Faithful. Our day starts at dawn with a chance to see the rising sun light up the Teton Mountains as we drive through Grand Teton National Park towards Yellowstone. While we will take advantage of any wildlife sightings on the way, the trip really starts once we enter Yellowstone. This tour follows the park road's Lower Loop, including Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring, the Yellowstone Falls, the wildlife-rich Hayden Valley, and Yellowstone Lake. There are numerous other attractions on the way, so finding something for everyone to marvel at is never a problem. (Squeezing it all in might be.) Depending on your preference and the geyser’s schedule, we will make Old Faithful our first or last stop in Yellowstone. Note: If you want to visit the Mammoth Hot Springs or the Lamar Valley, sign up for our two-day Yellowstone tour. Tour operates in Summer: May 1- October 31.

Guided Yellowstone Day Hike: Where else can you hike to a geyser?

Relax and enjoy this unique landscape on foot. We’ll bring the knowledge, the fun and the bear spray. Hiking in America’s original national park without the hassles or uncertainties and with a chance to learn a thing or two along the way. Our day starts at dawn with a chance to see the rising sun light up the Teton Mountains as we drive through Grand Teton National Park towards Yellowstone. While we will take advantage of any wildlife sightings, the trip really starts once we enter Yellowstone. (Sorry, no guided hiking is permitted in Grand Teton National Park.) We will select a hike based on your preferences and our assessment of what you can do. Remember, much of Yellowstone sits above 7,000 ft, and the altitude can slow down most visitors. There are also times in the spring when a preferred hike might be unavailable due to lingering snow or a closure to give wildlife a chance to recover from winter without human disturbance. Our guides are trained to deal with: altitude sickness, roaming bison, using bear spray, and ensuring you don’t go wandering off trail, break through a thin crust, and boil yourself in a thermal feature. (It’s happened before to a few unfortunate souls.) Depending on the length of the hike, we might be able to do some sightseeing and wildlife viewing on the way back to Jackson. Tour operates in Summer: May 1 - October 31.
