We start from the parking lot of the Ainos National Park. We enter a downhill dirt road in the fir forest where the smells and the morphology of the landscape remind us of Switzerland. After 2 km we reach a path to the top, we see Zakynthos on our right. We reach "Mega Soros", the highest peak of Ainos at 1628m. We continue on the ridge with simultaneous views from both sides of the island. I think words cannot describe what our eyes see... Next stop at another peak of the mountain range with breathtaking views. Depending on the season, we will also see the orchid "Viola kefalonia", a rare type of flower that thrives at the high altitudes of Ainos. “Where time stopped in August 1953…” We park near Poulata village and we start our hike at the reference point. *(only for the longer option) we will follow a beautiful dirt road between olive trees and we will visit “Aggalaki cave-lake”. We will follow a shady, dirt road and then an ancient path from very old (over 800 years) olive trees we end up at "Old Vlahata" former, main village of the area. The village comes alive in August when the interactive festival "Saristra" takes place in the ruins of the old village. We explore the village and then take a dirt road leading to “Latavinata” village where “Agia Paraskeyi church is. Next stop at “Old Livathinata" village where we will admire an old church build at 1869. Following a gentle uphill narrow road in a few minutes we reach "Poulata" village where our tour finish.
