MORAČA CANYON - BIOGRAD LAKE - TARA BRIDGE

WeDrive Montenegro

Moraca River Canyon is the second largest river canyon in Montenegro, featuring steep riverbanks. The Moraca river stretches over 100 kilometres, while its deepest part, known as Tisov Vrh, reaches about 1000 metres depth. However, this canyon's main attraction lies within one of the most unusual and perilous routes worldwide. Driving along the canyon leads visitors towards Biogradska Gora National Park - an exceptionally beautiful natural site. Here, the woods of Biogradska Gora offer breathtaking views; they cover hillsides that vary up to 1000 m above sea level, encircling the tranquil waters of lake Biograd, boasting diverse climates even in such a compact space. Our journey continues onto another spectacular sight – the Tara Canyon, ranked among the top three canyons globally after America’s Grand Canyon. To witness the grandeur of Montana's Tara Canyon, visit Đurđevića Tara Bridge, connecting both ends of the gorge originally constructed during King Alexander I reign to link isolated mountain regions like Durmitor with other parts of former Yugoslavia. Back then, it held title as Europe's longest reinforced concrete arched dam intended for vehicle traffic. For those seeking adventure, there exists a thrilling option of crossing the entire width of the Tara Canyon via Zip line situated right beside said structure. Alternatively, white water rafting provides yet another exciting means to explore these gorges further, especially between months of May and June when currents reach their peak strength before gradually subsiding until late fall season.

Serpentine road Kotor-Lovcen-Cetinje

WeDrive Montenegro

This challenging drive features a series of hairpin bends with unbeatable views over the bay at Boka below. Today, the serpentina remains one of the most dramatic mountain roads in all of Europe - twisting backwards and forwards almost metre by metre as you ascend higher, revealing breathtaking scenery throughout your journey. En route to Lovcén National Park there's also a charming little village called Njegushi famous for producing delicious cured meats and cheeses. Their succulent prosciutto is made according to time honoured family recipes handed down through many generations. Lovcén National Park straddles both Mediterranean and continental climates making it quite different from the other 4 national parks found within Montenegrins borders. Undoubtedly though, the main attraction here is the mausoleum dedicated to Prince Danilo II Petrović Njegoš located high above the park itself – whose viewing platform provides stunning panoramic vista across much of the nation towards Scutari lake right out onto Croatia proper. Our final destination today was once known as 'The old capital', Cetinje stands proudly as testament to centuries long defiance against numerous conquerors alike. In fact if anyone were asked what they should know about montenegro’s past simply answer them "Cetinje" because everything important happened here. There are plenty of things worth seeing too such as :the monastery complex ;Vlaska Church;Biljarda or Petar II Petrovic Njegoš Museum;various Museums & galleries;Royal Theatre plus historical Foreign Embassies just waiting to welcome visitors who dare explore their secrets...
