Property tour with in person
Grange Estate · Christiansted
We’ll tour a historic estate originally constructed around 1730 and completed by 1761; one section inspired Danish architectural styles for buildings within the colony's territory. The main crop grown here were sugarcane plants—a significant source of revenue for the farmhouse over its lifetime. Learn about architecture dating back to the early 1700s along with information on past homeowners, even some who had ties to royalty! Discover what life was like before emancipation (in 1848) until an unfortunate fire destroyed part of the building in 1858.
Throughout our visit we stumbled upon remnants of Channey Plantation – where you can learn more about historical figures such as Alexander Hamilton and his mom, Rachel Fawcett. There are other interesting things too - check out their café serving up delicious regional cuisine, plus there's always something special waiting for you inside their little souvenir store. Don't forget though tickets need purchasing beforehand whether bought online or picked up when visiting them personally.
