CALLIGRAPHY LESSONS

Arabic calligraphic styles developed from the earliest times of Islam, with the spread of books of all types in the geographical area of dar al-Islam. Calligraphy is highly developed in the arts of Islam, and sometimes even takes on a symbolic value. In literature and poetry, and even in lettering, a reflection of the natural world dates back to the time of the Abbasids. Arabic calligraphy is generally divided into two easily distinguishable groups: Kufic script, which is characterised by its angular character, and cursive script (naskhi), which is much rounder. With a master calligrapher, you will learn the subtle art of handling the Qallam in a moment of concentration and serenity.

Cooking Class

The cooking class will take place at Palais Bab Sahra, a traditional Moroccan palacio in the heart of the medina, located near the central square of the Blue Gate. The day begins with a shopping spree in a local souk, right in the heart of bustling Fez. There are a variety of dishes that you can learn to cook, as the most popular recipes that tourists enjoy preparing include different types of tagine (such as chicken tagine with olives, meat and vegetable tagine, or meat and prunes). At the end of the lesson, a selection of Moroccan salads is served alongside the dishes prepared during the class, accompanied by seasonal fruits, local sweets, and fresh water. Guests will also enjoy a special workshop on how to make traditional Moroccan mint tea, a cultural highlight of Moroccan hospitality.
